Here’s How You Can Get New York Medical Marijuana Card

Have you ever tried to function while in chronic, debilitating pain? Perhaps you suffer from migraine headaches that come on without warning? Or, you are trying to manage the overwhelming side effects of cancer treatment.

It’s legal to obtain medical cannabis in New York. However, to do so, there are specific steps you must take to get a NY medical marijuana card.

Follow these steps to get access to safe, all-natural pain relief on Long Island.

Determine residency. To obtain permission to participate in New York’s medical marijuana program, you have to prove you are resident of New York. You need an official government issued ID, such as a NY state driver’s license or New York State non-driver ID card.

The ID must include your name and New York address. You also need to be able to show a utility bill that reflects your  name and address in New York State along with proof of a current lease or other residency documentation.

The second step to obtaining a New York medical marijuana card is getting diagnosed with one of the qualifying conditions.

Dr. Jahan Chaudhry, founder of the Long Island Compassionate Medical Center, will meet with you to determine if you do, in fact, suffer from one of the qualifying conditions.

Do you suffer from one of these conditions? You may qualify to participate in NY’s medical marijuana program.

  • Chronic Pain
  • PTSD
  • Neuropathy
  • Inflammatory Bowel Disease
  • Epilepsy
  • Parkinson’s Disease
  • Huntington’s Disease
  • ALS
  • Cancer
  • HIV/AIDS
  • Multiple Sclerosis
  • Spinal Cord Injury with Spasticity

Additionally, if you suffer from any condition for which a doctor might prescribe an opioid painkiller, you may qualify for New York’s medical cannabis program.

Dr. Chaudhry will access your condition. If you qualify, he will provide you with a patient certification.

It’s important to know that only a physician who has been certified by the State of New York Department of Health can prescribe patients certifications for the New York State medical marijuana program.

Step three includes filling an application for the program.  If you quality for the NY Medical Marijuana program, Dr. Chaudhry will explain the application process and recommend dispensaries local to you.

**Don’t forget to ask about assigning caregiver status to someone who will be picking up your cannabis at the dispensary on your behalf.**

There’s is no reason to live your life in pain. Medical marijuana is not about getting high…it’s about safe, all-natural pain relief.
